March for hope in Cape Town

Hundreds of people gathered in prayer at the Castle of Good Hope last Wednesday, April 16, leading up to Easter Sunday, for the March of Hope, organised by Good Hope Christian Centre.

The prayer walk through the city was led by the reenactment of Jesus carrying the cross to his crucifixion, while biblical figures, religious leaders, and Roman soldiers surrounded him. People followed behind with posters which read "Giving Hope" and "Healing People", while they prayed and sang along to gospel music. 

Founder and senior pastor of Good Hope Christian Centre, Pastor Wendy McDonald, said Cape Town needed hope now more than ever. "We believe in a future filled with hope."

"We march to confront government corruption, mismanagement, fraud, and the destruction of lives through violence and lack of education. We march to challenge a religious system that has too often failed the people in their darkest hours. We march in hope and prayer, trusting that as we walk together in this season of Lent and the Passover, God will hear us and heal our land.

"This was a moment to stand together – to remember Jesus, to pray for our families, and to seek forgiveness and renewal in our own hearts. We carry the hope that our nation can rise above its struggles, that our city can be a place of peace and opportunity, and that our lives can reflect the love and grace of Christ."
