Celebrating two years of creativity at the City Gallery in Cape Town

The Artists Gallery, located on Bree Street in Cape Town, celebrated its second anniversary with champagne in the morning. 

Guests were welcomed with a drink, setting a festive tone for the celebration at the gallery and studio, down the road, in Waterkant Street, earlier this month. 

Artists, staff, and buyers gathered to celebrate with owner and artist Jaret Loggenberg, from Somerset West.

Ms Loggenberg, an internationally acclaimed artist, raised a glass and celebrated with a live painting demonstration, saying cheers to "creativity, community, and art".

She said their neighbours have been instrumental in keeping their spaces safe and directing clients to their venues.

Artist Hermien van der Merwe, from Oranjezicht, said she has been exhibiting her work for about seven years and she is always excited to meet art admirers. 

"I enjoy being in nature and love the art that it inspires," she said.

"We've had a great run with international artists also exhibiting in our space and South African artists going abroad to share their works of art," she said. 

This month, July, they also featured artist Claude Chandler, from Durban, who is known for his distinctive stamped portrait style, blending digital precision with bold, expressive layering, resulting in captivating images. 

Ms Loggenberg said that his work invited viewers to look closer. 

"Whether you’ve been with us from the start or just discovered us recently, your support means the world - and this day wouldn’t be complete without you," she said.
