The St Luke's Combined Hospices, a non-profit organisation, is inviting the public to support its first-ever fundraising golf day, which will take place at Rondebosch Golf Club towards the end of the month.

St Luke's has been providing palliative care services for adults and senior citizens for more than 46 years. They have their main hub in Kenilworth, though they deliver palliative care services across multiple communities in the province in areas such as Athlone, Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, False Kommetjie, Table View, and Mitchell’s Plain.

They also have charity shops that help sustain their organisation, which is located in areas like Observatory, Wynberg, Hout Bay, Salt River, Grassy Park, Tokai, Milnerton, Table View, Vangate, and Fish Hoek.

Marketing manager at St Luke's, Kelly Appolis, said their target is to reach over R200 000 in their charity golf day generated through 4-ball entries, auction items, and sponsorship pledges. “These funds will go directly towards supporting vulnerable patients with a terminal diagnosis and their families through our palliative care services,” she said.

Ms Appolis said this also includes support for their home-based nursing care, pain and symptom management, psychosocial and bereavement support, as well as essential food parcels and medical supplies. “Every contribution helps ensure that patients receive dignified, compassionate care in the comfort of their homes when they need it most,” she said.

St. Luke's Combined Hospices charity golf day will take place at Rondebosch Golf Club on Friday, April 24, from 11am. Tickets available on Quicket.
