The City’s water and sanitation directorate has announced planned maintenance work that will result in a temporary water supply disruption for a part of Oranjezicht on Tuesday, April 7.
The essential work, which involves a pipe replacement project, will require the water supply to be shut off from 8am until 8pm.
The affected areas include: Upper Orange Street, Alexandra Avenue, Belmont Avenue, Belvedere Avenue, Forest Road, and possibly surrounding streets in Oranjezicht.
This critical maintenance will allow the team to safely replace valves on the existing water supply infrastructure.
Residents on the listed roads and surrounds are advised that they will experience no water during these 12 hours.
The directorate encourages all consumers in the affected area to prepare for the disruption by storing enough water in advance for domestic use. Water should be stored in clean, sealed containers as a precautionary measure.
While the City aims to minimise inconvenience, this work is crucial to improving the long-term reliability of the water supply infrastructure.
Residents are thanked for their cooperation.
