Survé Philanthropies reaffirmed its commitment to healing and social transformation by continuing its partnership with the Institute for Healing of Memories (IHOM).
Together, they stand at the forefront of supporting individuals and communities as they confront the legacy of trauma, fostering meaningful pathways toward healing, restoration, and lasting reconciliation.
Through its workshops, youth programmes, and community dialogues, IHOM provides spaces for participants to reflect on their experiences, rebuild a sense of agency, and develop the emotional and social tools needed to transform trauma into resilience and hope.
According to Survé Philanthropies, healing and social justice are central to Survé Philanthropies’ mission. Through its work in youth development, human rights, and community upliftment, the organisation is committed to supporting marginalised communities across South Africa.
It said the partnership brings together Survé Philanthropies’ focus on social transformation with IHOM’s expertise in trauma-informed facilitation, enabling deeper and more sustained impact for both individuals and communities.
Chair of Survé Philanthropies, Saarah Survé, said the youth carry both the weight of our history and the promise of our future.
“Through our partnership with the Institute for Healing of Memories, we are investing in their ability to heal, to lead, and to shape more inclusive and empathetic communities.
She said on Freedom Day, Monday, April 27, Survé Philanthropies reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the next generation with the tools they need to transform trauma into strength and possibility.”
Sharing her sentiments, director of programmes at the Institute for Healing of Memories, Fatima Swartz, said they create safe and compassionate spaces where young people can explore their personal and collective pasts, reclaim agency over their stories, and build the emotional and social skills to transform trauma into Hope.
“Our partnership with Survé Philanthropies strengthens this mission by enabling deeper engagement, expanded youth support structures, and sustained opportunities for healing and leadership development.”
Survé Philanthropies describes the collaboration as bringing together its work in youth development, human rights, and social impact with IHOM’s established programmes, including community healing dialogues and the Restoring Humanity youth initiative. The partnership is aimed at expanding access to trauma-informed support, strengthening community cohesion, and creating opportunities for long-term personal and social development across South Africa.
