High-value robbery at Bantry Bay penthouse leaves victims in shock

Sea Point police are investigating a high-value theft case after visitors staying at a Bantry Bay penthouse were allegedly drugged and robbed over the Freedom Day long weekend.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, when five men reportedly woke up to find that three women, whom they had met at a restaurant in Gardens, had disappeared with a number of their personal belongings.

According to a social media post, the men suspect they were drugged, as they woke up hours later to discover the theft.

Missing items include clothing, cash, and several cellphones, with the total value estimated at around R300 000.

Western Cape police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said that a case of theft has been opened at the Sea Point police station.

He confirmed that no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
