The City of Cape Town’s electricity teams are actively on the ground, attending to a high number of service requests across the city, according to a statement.
High call volumes and storm-related damage may result in longer outages, as repairs are carried out only when it is safe for teams to do so.

In the statement, the City apologised for the significant power outages affecting numerous areas across the metro, attributing the damage to the recent bouts of strong winds and heavy downpours.
The inclement weather, which has included heavy rain and strong winds, has caused extensive damage to electricity infrastructure, leading to a surge in service requests.
The municipality has stressed that electricity restoration will only be undertaken when conditions are safe, as working in heavy rain, strong winds, or flooding poses a severe risk to their teams.
Residents are urged to take precautions while the City works to address the issues.
"Residents are advised to keep cellphones charged and ensure backup devices such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units and emergency lights are charged and available when required," said Mayoral committee member for energy, Xanthea Limberg.
Areas reported to be affected by the outages include Gardens and Bo-Kaap, Gugulethu, Parkwood, Langa, Weltevreden Valley, Hanover Park, Philippi, Brooklyn, Bergvliet, Rondebosch, Glenlilly, Vasco Estate, Observatory, Sybrand Park, Pinelands, Plumstead, Wetton, Bonteheuwel, Pinati Estate, Ottery, Kenilworth, Grassy Park, Lotus River, Claremont, Portland, Retreat, Soneike, Kenridge, Strand, De Kuilen, Durbanville, Valmary Park, Vredekloof, Ravensmead, and Helena Heights.
Ward councillor for parts of the city bowl, Francine Higham, said she escalated complaints about unplanned electricity outages.
Residences in Astana Street, Yusuf Drive, Voetboog Road, and Bloem Street in Bo-Kaap were affected, including residences in Upper Camp Road and Hastings Street in Gardens and Tamboerskloof.
Ms Higham reminded residents to report electricity faults via the official City channels and to use only one channel per fault to avoid the creation of duplicate service requests.

The City also advised residents in Eskom-supply areas to contact Eskom directly for their electricity faults.
