With whale season underway along the Western Cape coastline, travellers will soon have a new way to experience one of the region's most spectacular natural attractions.
From Thursday, July 2, City Sightseeing South Africa will offer its Hermanus Explorer Tour, a guided day trip connecting Cape Town with the popular coastal town of Hermanus during the annual whale migration season.
The tour will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays through to the end of November.
According to City Sightseeing, the full-day experience includes return transport from Cape Town, a scenic coastal drive, guided commentary, and time to explore Hermanus at leisure. Visitors will have the opportunity to stroll along the town's famous cliff paths, browse local shops, and enjoy panoramic views over Walker Bay.
Guests can also choose to enjoy a wine-tasting experience or book an optional whale-watching cruise for a closer encounter with the southern right whales that visit the area each year.
Hermanus is widely regarded as one of the world's premier land-based whale-watching destinations, drawing visitors from across the globe during the migration season.
The launch comes as tourism operators gear up for one of the Western Cape's busiest wildlife-viewing periods. Whale sightings typically increase as winter progresses, with peak viewing often occurring between August and October.
For visitors without access to a car, or those simply wanting to leave the driving to someone else, the new tour offers a convenient way to experience Hermanus' coastal scenery, food, wine, and whale-watching opportunities in a single day.
As the first departures approach in July, the tour adds another reason to explore the Overberg during one of the most exciting seasons on the Western Cape tourism calendar.
