St Luke's Combined Hospices is inviting the public to support its Pairing in the Valley fundraising evening to help raise much-needed funds for palliative care services across the Western Cape.
The event, hosted in partnership with Constantia Glen Wine Estate, will take place on Friday, July 24, from 5.30pm, which will begin with a auction viewing, followed by tasting and meals pairing. It will bring together corporate partners, donors, sponsors, community leaders, and supporters who share a commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to quality palliative care.
For more than 46 years, St Luke's Combined Hospices has provided compassionate palliative care for adults and senior citizens. While its main hub is in Kenilworth, the organisation delivers services across communities including Athlone, Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Kommetjie, Table View and Mitchell's Plain.
The non-profit also operates charity shops in Observatory, Wynberg, Hout Bay, Salt River, Grassy Park, Tokai, Milnerton, Table View, Vangate, and Fish Hoek to help sustain its work.
As a non-profit organisation, St Luke's relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and community partners to ensure that patients receive holistic care regardless of their financial circumstances.
The organisation hopes to raise R250 000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and a live auction during the evening.
St Luke's CEO Dr Ronita Mahilall said, every rand raised would directly support the organisation's palliative care services for vulnerable patients and their families.
"Funds will help provide expert pain and symptom management, home-based nursing care, psychosocial support, bereavement counselling and practical winter assistance to those living with life-limiting illnesses," she said.
Guests will enjoy an elegant five-course canapé and wine pairing while taking part in a live auction throughout the evening.
Individuals and organisations can support the fundraiser by purchasing tickets, becoming event sponsors, donating auction items, contributing products or services, or making a monetary pledge.
Tickets cost R650 for an individual, R1 200 for a couple, and R2 400 for a corporate table of four guests. Tickets are available through Quicket. For more information, visit the St Luke's Combined Hospices website.
