Stellenbosch Wine Routes is celebrating its 55th anniversary with the return of Wine Town Stellenbosch, a nine-day programme of wine, food and lifestyle experiences from Saturday, July 25, to Sunday, August 2.
The celebrations will culminate in the annual Stellenbosch Wine Festival at the Stellenbosch Town Hall on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1.
More than 60 wine producers will showcase over 200 wines during the festival, which includes 20 tasting tokens per ticket, food prepared by chefs Bertus Basson and Adele Grewar, live entertainment, and a complimentary water station.
Wine Town Stellenbosch features a range of events across the region, including wine tastings, cellar tours, winemaker lunches and dinners, workshops, restaurant specials and guided experiences.
The programme opens on Saturday, July 25, with the inaugural Wine Town Run/Walk at Dornier Wine Estate, where participants can choose between 5km and 10km routes through the vineyards.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, selected restaurants will also take part in the "Celebrate With Us" campaign, offering diners a complimentary glass of Stellenbosch wine with their meal.
Other highlights include vintage wine tastings, cheese fondue evenings, wine-and-paint sessions, quiz nights, winemaker-hosted brunches and food-and-wine pairing experiences at participating wine estates across Stellenbosch.
Visitors can also take advantage of discounted accommodation at selected establishments during the event.
Tickets cost R600 when booked online or R650 at the door.
