Artscape marked Women’s Month with a free lunchtime concert celebrating South African music, creativity and community.
The Cape Cultural Collective Lunch Hour Concert took place at the Artscape Chandelier Foyer on Tuesday, August 4, as part of the Artscape Women’s Humanity Festival, bringing together a diverse line-up of local performers.
The programme featured Vusumuzi Mpofu, Eugenia Zantoto, Winslow Schalkwyk, the Ned Doman Band, Razak Johnson, and Khanyisa James.
With free entry, the lunchtime performance offered audiences an accessible way to experience live music while celebrating the contribution of South African artists and the transformative role of the arts.
The concert formed part of Artscape’s broader Women’s Humanity Festival, which uses the arts as a platform to explore themes of unity, creativity and community during Women’s Month.
By opening the concert to the public at no cost, the event also created an opportunity for people working in and around Cape Town’s city centre to step away from their usual routines and engage with live performance.
The diverse line-up reflected the breadth of South African creative talent, while the festival provided a platform for artists and audiences to come together through music.
