Grade 6 pupils have until Tuesday, September 15, to apply for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s High School Scholarship Programme, which supports young people with academic ability, financial need and entrepreneurial potential.
Scholarship opportunity
The programme offers successful applicants access to quality high school education from Grade 8, as well as mentorship, personal development and an entrepreneurial-focused curriculum designed to build confidence, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Applicants must be completing Grade 6 in 2026 and show an interest in becoming an entrepreneur or business owner. They must have achieved an overall average of at least 70% in Grades 5 and 6, including a minimum of 70% in English and Mathematics.
Who can apply?
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, with their household’s gross monthly income not exceeding R20 000, including business revenue. They must be South African citizens, with at least one parent who is a South African citizen.
Applicants must also be aged 11 or 12 in Grade 6, meaning they must have been born in 2014 or 2015.
The Foundation stresses that the scholarship is not only financial support for high school, but an entrepreneurial development programme aimed at helping young people reach their potential and make a meaningful difference in their communities.
How to apply
Applications can be submitted online through the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s website, where application forms are also available. Completed forms may also be hand-delivered, couriered or posted to 46 Hof Street, Oranjezicht, Cape Town.
Applications close on Tuesday, September 15 at 5 pm.
