Chef Shaun Scrooby of VUUR and Heirloom Executive Chef Wesli Jacobs are joining forces for a four-hands dining experience at Cape Grace this Heritage Weekend, with only four sittings taking place on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26.

The collaboration brings VUUR’s fire-driven cooking into the city, alongside Heirloom’s more refined approach to South African cuisine.

Guests can expect a five-course menu with wine pairing, created specifically for the collaboration. The menu will be served at lunch and dinner across the two days and, according to the organisers, will not be repeated.

Two approaches, one South African table

VUUR, based at Remhoogte Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, has built its reputation around cooking with fire, local produce and a strong sense of place. The restaurant was awarded two stars at the 2026 Eat Out Awards and ranked No. 52 on the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants list.

Heirloom, meanwhile, draws on South African ingredients, memory and technique from its home at Cape Grace Hotel in the V&A Waterfront.

For the heritage weekend, the chefs will bring those different approaches together for a menu focused on South African produce and culinary heritage.

For Scrooby, bringing VUUR into the city is an opportunity to share its style of cooking with a wider audience.

“Fire has always been about place for us; it tells you what's around you and what the land is giving that day. Heirloom works from a different angle, but we're circling the same thing: food that says something true about where it comes from.”

Jacobs sees the collaboration as a chance to bring different perspectives on South African food together.

“South African cooking was never one story, and it was never meant to be. At Cape Grace, Heirloom gives us a space to bring different voices around the same table and to keep that conversation moving forward.”
