Italian vocalist and composer Marta Raviglia brings her daring, genre-defying artistry to two intimate venues in May.

Raviglia, known for her fearless improvisation, magnetic stage presence, and an extraordinary voice that dances between jazz, contemporary music, and avant-garde experimentation, will  perform on Wednesday May 7 at The Commons in Muizenberg, at 8pm, and on Friday May 9, at 7pm, at the Alma Café in Rosebank, together with Plumstead singer and Head of Jazz Studies at the University of Cape (UCT), Amanda Tiffin.

At The Commons, Marta will perform alongside a stellar Cape Town rhythm section: Blake  Hellaby (piano), Joshua Nemaire (bass), and Joshua Klein (drums). Expect a compelling mix of jazz standards and original compositions.

The performance at the Alma Café, is a double-bill concert, and features Marta in a collaboration with Tiffin. The duo will explore jazz classics and fresh contemporary gems in a warm, up-close-and-personal setting.

Raviglia visits Cape Town as a Visiting Scholar at UCT’s South African College of Music  (SACM), hosted by Tiffin and the UCT Jazz Section. While she’ll be offering master-classes and workshops to students, local audiences have this unique opportunity to experience her artistry live on stage.

Tickets for the show on Wednesday May 7 at The Commons in Muizenberg cost R120 on FIXR.

Tickets for the show on Friday May 9 at Alma Café cost R180. Email bookings@almacafe.co.za to book.
