According to the latest report by Uber Eats, one customer placed 2,378 orders in 2024, more than six orders a day.
The Uber Eats' 2024 Cravings Report also said that another user ordered a food item 364 days of the year.
In terms of big spenders, the report also found that one savvy user saved over R18,000 in 2024 on 779 orders with Uber One.
The most expensive order of the year, according to Uber Eats, was on an expensive bottle of cognac. The user spent over R20,000 on a single order of alcohol.
The report said that South Africans have a chicken obsession and found that crispy fried chicken with pap was the most searched item on the Uber Eats app.
They also found a high number of people who get the midnight munchies, ordering food in the early hours. The research said that Johannesburg and Pretoria led the charge with 1.2 million late-night orders between 11pm and 3am.
Durban was named the most vegan-friendly city, with 0.6% of all orders being plant-based. Meanwhile, Johannesburg and Pretoria users collectively ordered the most vegan dishes.
When it comes to being kind and polite, Margate on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast takes the crown as the friendliest city, with Johannesburg and Pretoria close behind.
The research found that users in these cities love their “pleases” and “thank yous” in their order requests.
If you think that you wait incredibly long for your Uber Eats order, then you may become irate to learn that the fastest Uber Eats delivery was completed in just 89 seconds.
The report noted that one courier travelled nearly 40,000km in 2024, almost enough to circle the Earth.
“They also clocked 4,500 service hours and made 7,959 trips,” according to the report.
Lastly, one Uber driver delivered 320 orders to the same customer in 2024.
