Retro dance show

Staff Reporter|Published 1 year ago

Austin Tshikosi and Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA) dancers strike a pose outside Theatre on The Bay where Vintage Jukebox opens on Wednesday June 14.

The Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA) will present a new dance production Vintage Jukebox, at Theatre on The Bay from Wednesday June 14 to Saturday June 24.

Featuring a cast of LAMTA performers, Vintage Jukebox will showcase choreography by some of South Africa’s top names such as Adele blank, Michelle Reid, Sean Bovim, Jared Schaedler, Liam Gillespie, Shameelah Kinnear, Brigitte Reeve-Taylor, Robin van Wyk, Ashely Searle and LAMTA co-director Duane Alexander.

From re-imagined contemporary tunes to jazzy ballads and bluesy vocals, audiences can expect a high-octane, nostalgic, retro journey through the music and culture of the 1920s, with a 21st century twist.

Evening performances start at 8pm with two performances on Saturdays at 4pm and 8pm. Tickets cost R250 each and R150 for student groups of 10 or more through Webtickets. Email pr@lamta.co.za to book.
