Cape Town’s annual World Belly Dance Day returns next month, bringing a showcase of movement, music, and community spirit to the city centre.
Hosted by The Feminine Divine, the event will take place on Saturday, May 16 at The Wave Theatre on Long Street, running from 11am to 4pm.
Now in its 15th year, World Belly Dance Day will feature performances by dancers from more than 20 studios across the Western Cape.
Participants will range from beginners to award-winning performers, offering audiences a broad glimpse into the art form.
In addition to live performances, attendees can browse a selection of belly dance-inspired goods on sale. A mass group drum solo lesson and performance is scheduled for 2pm.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Rape Crisis, a cause the organisers have supported since the event’s inception.
To date, more than R158 000 has been raised for the organisation.
