Home to more than 3 000 birds and small animals representing around 400 species, the sanctuary features over 100 spacious walk-through aviaries spread across four hectares of landscaped gardens.

For younger visitors, there is a large sandpit play area with toys, while older children can enjoy a jungle gym near the flamingo enclosure. Parents can relax nearby while keeping an eye on the action.
Owner and Manager Hendrik Louw said one of the biggest draws of the attraction is the opportunity for children and adults to learn while exploring.
"Every animal here has information on the enclosure, so you get to be self-taught by reading what's up there, and you will guarantee you go away with something new that you've learned here," he said.
Beyond learning about birds and wildlife, he believes a visit can inspire a deeper appreciation for nature.
"It teaches us just how important nature and the environment are, and how we need to take care of and respect them as well."
Families can easily spend an entire day at the sanctuary, with no time limit attached to daily tickets. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own picnic, making it a budget-friendly option during the winter school holidays.
For frequent visitors, family and individual membership options are available, offering year-round access.
With around 100 000 visitors passing through its gates each year, World of Birds remains one of Cape Town's most popular family attractions.
