Cape Town’s iconic Mount Nelson has been ranked no 34 in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026, placing the city’s famous “Pink Lady” among some of the world’s most recognised hotels.

The Belmond property, which has stood at the foot of Table Mountain since 1899, is known for its distinctive pink exterior, expansive gardens and its long-standing place in Cape Town’s hospitality scene.

Mount Nelson describes itself as the “joyful home of Cape Town”, with 196 rooms and suites spread across nine acres of gardens. The hotel also offers seven restaurants and its well-known Afternoon Tea service, alongside event spaces accommodating up to 400 people.

The hotel said the 50 Best recognition celebrates properties that go beyond service and design, highlighting distinctive architecture, personality and a genuine sense of place.

“We are deeply honoured to see Mount Nelson recognised among The 50 Best Hotels. This accolade is a testament to the passion and dedication of our team,” the hotel said.

Located around 30 minutes from Cape Town International Airport, Mount Nelson has become a familiar landmark for both visitors and locals, with its gardens, dining spaces and historic architecture forming part of the city’s luxury hospitality offering.

The 2026 ranking places Mount Nelson 34th on the global list, giving another international nod to Cape Town’s hospitality scene.
