Stokvel Indaba aims to empower women

A group of women who formed a stokvel investment club will host the first Stokvel Indaba in celebration of Woman’s Month on Saturday August 12 at the Waterfront.

The Indzuzo YamaQobokazana Investments Club chairperson Della Rhudulu said: “Stokvels have long been sidelined and we want to show that they are a real thing and can revitalise the economy. We will be celebrating the women who started started the stokvel revolution," she said.

Ms Rhudulu said those women were trailblazers who fought for the financial liberation of women.

“It’s a day filled with different speakers in conversation, from those running a successful stokvel, to personal finance and building generational wealth,” she added.

This event will be hosted at the Allan Gray Building at the Waterfront and women from various stokvels and burial societies are invited to attend.
