The inaugural Fish Hoek Lions Club Big Walk for Little Warriors - colour edition - on Saturday raised R8 000 for Reach for a Dream, according to the club’s president.
The event is part of the Big Walk for Little Warriors, a national Lions Multiple District 410 project, with Lions clubs across South Africa hosting various walks in support of children battling cancer, said club president Mandy Proctor.
Despite a strong south-easterly wind, enthusiastic walkers completed the circuit twice, collecting four different paint colours along the way, she said.
“The event brought together families, friends, and supporters, all walking for a great cause.”
Children and first finishers were received Lions caps and vouchers from a local steak house.
“It was truly heart-warming to see the community come together in support of such a meaningful cause. We are incredibly grateful for the participation and generosity of everyone involved, and we can’t wait to make next year’s event even bigger and better,” said Ms Proctor.
