The Centre for Early Childhood Development (CECD) is hosting its national conference at the end of September, and is urging those who wish to participate to register immediately.

The CECD, which has its head office in Claremont, will be hosting its 17th conference, organised in partnership with the College of Cape Town, at the end of September.

CECD director, Professor Eric Atmore, said this year’s theme, “Quality Early Childhood Development in South Africa: Celebrating Three Decades of ECD,” will reflect on the past, assess the present, and envision the future of ECD in South Africa.

Themes to be explored at the conference include effective ECD programmes, lessons from the past, bridging the divide between policy, research and practice, ECD leadership and management, as well as ECD causes and calls to action.

The conference will also welcome Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, renowned humanitarian and founder of Gift of the Givers, as their keynote speaker.

“His life’s work reflects a deep commitment to human dignity and the well-being of children,” said Professor Atmore.

Institutions wishing to present a paper at the upcoming conference may still submit abstracts by Friday, June 27.

The conference is limited to 200 delegates, and anyone interested in attending must register by Monday, June 30.

The conference will be held at the College of Cape Town from Tuesday, September 30, until Wednesday, October 2.

For information on attendance costs or to apply as an exhibitor, visit the official conference website at www.qualityecdconference.co.za.
