The Mother City becomes the epicentre of the continent’s creative industries as FAME Week Africa returns with film, fashion, music, and global connections.

FAME Week Africa kicks off with MIP Africa, Muziki Africa, and the African Fashion Forum at the Cape Town International Convention Centre 2 from Monday, September 1, until Wednesday, September 3; and then moves to the Labia Theatre for the FAME Shorts Film Festival from Thursday, September 4 until Saturday, September 6.

Martin Hiller, portfolio director of the event, said that FAME Week Africa was a catalyst.

“It’s where Africa’s brightest creative talent meets the global decision-makers shaping the future of film, television, animation, fashion, and music.

“This is where ideas are unlocked, partnerships are forged, and Africa takes its rightful place on the world stage,” he said.

The six-day event brings global leaders, trendsetters, and innovators together into a powerful marketplace.

It boasts a selection of 300 speakers, the programme is designed for bold conversations and to connect producers, buyers, writers, investors, and creators - where deals are struck, projects are born, and Africa's creative future is negotiated.

The event also explores the intersection of music and film through a programme track called Muziki, which happens on Tuesday, September 2, and Wednesday, September 3.

It includes panel discussions on rights, licensing,, and opportunities for musicians on film, television and offers a global platform for trends and industry heavyweights to meet.

Regarding the African Fashion Forum focus, a public event,  Tastes & Threads, takes over the new Spyced Restaurant in the V&A Silo District.

Guests will enjoy a 13-course culinary journey paired with runway showcases by standout designers, including Jacques LaGrange, Laud Pulse, MUNKUS, E_Mania, MASA MARA, and Zeitgeist.

Tickets for the event are R1300 per head and available via Quicket

Film screenings across the week will add momentum, with the African premiere of 77: The FESTAC Conspiracy, from Nigeria, and the China Showcase, in partnership with leading Chinese creators, offers global buyers access to drama, animation, formats, and documentaries.

The African premiere of London Calling, a Cape Town–shot action thriller starring Josh Duhamel and Aidan Gillen, showcases the city's potential as a film location.

Powerful documentaries and shorts such as And She Didn’t Die, chronicling the extraordinary life of Lauretta Ngcobo, and Nkanyezi, a moving story of love and liberation in rural KZN, round out the line-up.

These screenings not only showcase the power of African and global storytelling but also serve as vital deal-making moments at MIP Africa - where distributors, financiers, and platforms converge to acquire, co-produce, and expand the reach of content across borders.
