Social media reports allege that an adult man may have jumped into the water with the child in what appeared to be a suicide attempt at Table Bay Harbour.

Table Bay police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in the water near Table Bay Harbour on Thursday morning, December 4.
According to provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a young child was rushed to hospital for treatment.
“The victim was declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel," said Sergeant Twigg.
He said a child, believed to be between five and ten years old, was also pulled from the water and taken to a medical facility for treatment.
“Divers continued searching the area, and no further details about the child’s condition have been released,” said Mr Twigg.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.”
Social media reports suggested the adult male may have jumped into the water with the child in what appeared to be a suicide attempt.
But Sergeant Twigg did not confirm a link between the two victims, but said they were seen in the water at Table Bay Harbour.
