A Cape Town Central police station constable is being investigated after he was found asleep in a marked police vehicle.
Western Cape police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that they had received a report of a member sleeping on duty.
"A disciplinary investigation has been opened against the member involved. It will be investigated further," he said.

According to a social post, the vehicle was parked at a bus stop in the middle of a busy road, while his colleague was inside a shop.
He attributed his drowsiness to flu medication but failed to recognise the risks of driving in that state. "The matter has been escalated to his station commander for action against both him and his colleague, who refused to identify herself or move the vehicle," read the post.
Captain Van Wyk said that it is an internal process and would be regarded as a matter between the employer and employee.
Cape Town Police CPF chairman, Marc Truss, told the Capetowner that the members will be facing disciplinary action - until then, nothing further to pass comment on.
