The Cape Town Gospel Choir has opened auditions for new singers, offering local vocalists the opportunity to join one of the city’s most established and uplifting choral groups.

The choir is inviting singers aged 16 and older from all backgrounds and levels of experience to audition.

Those with an interest in gospel, soul, and contemporary Christian music are encouraged to apply, with all voice parts - soprano, alto, tenor, and bass - welcomed.

Choir manager, Norma Peckham, said auditions are designed to be straightforward and accessible.
Prospective members are required to prepare a short a cappella song and book an audition via email, including their full name and a brief motivation for wanting to join the choir.

Rehearsals take place every Monday evening from 7pm to 9pm in Mowbray.

As the choir maintains a high musical standard and a busy performance schedule, members are expected to commit to regular attendance and scheduled performances throughout the year.

The Cape Town Gospel Choir is known for its supportive and inclusive environment, offering professional musical direction, sectional coaching, and opportunities for solo and small ensemble performances.

The choir regularly performs at prominent venues such as the Cape Town City Hall and the V&A Waterfront, as well as at concerts and community events across the city.

Artistic director Colin Peckham said the choir is looking forward to welcoming new members. “Whether you are an experienced chorister or new to gospel singing, we are excited to open our doors to fresh voices who want to grow, share joy, and make music that connects with audiences,” he said.

Interested singers are encouraged to apply soon, as the choir prepares for an exciting performance season ahead.
