A fire broke out at a nightclub in the Cape Town CBD on Thursday, January 29, causing extensive damage to the building's upper floors.
According to the City's Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, Jermaine Carelse, the alarm was raised at approximately 6.20pm on the corner of Long and Buiten Street.
Fire crews from Roeland Street, Salt River, Milnerton, and Sea Point responded to the scene.
A central business district nightclub fire was extinguished at 9.15pm on Thursday, January 29.

"The hydraulic platform is being utilised to attack the fire from the roof," he said.
Mr Carelse confirmed that the nightclub was locked when the crews arrived.
The fire caused extensive damage to the second floor and a portion of the third floor before it was finally extinguished at 9.15pm.
No injuries have been reported.
