Major roadworks set to transform the Atlantic Seaboard
The City of Cape Town has started roadworks in Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay and Camps Bay.

Planned road resurfacing is underway in Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, and Camps Bay.
Residents are advised to expect temporary disruptions while the City of Cape Town carries out the work.
The work, which began on Thursday, January 29, is expected to continue until Wednesday, February 28, weather permitting. Construction teams will be on site from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm, with night work scheduled on some roads.
While the City has acknowledged that there may be increased noise during this period, officials say every effort will be made to complete the work as efficiently as possible, with the benefit of newly resurfaced roads for the community once the project is completed.
The City’s mayoral committee member for urban mobility, Rob Quintas, said the maintenance programme is being prioritised while weather conditions remain favourable.
He said that the City has a limited window each year to carry out this type of work and appealed to residents for patience while teams work to address as much essential maintenance as possible.
The resurfacing works include full-width road resurfacing, the replacement and installation of kerbs and channels, the raising of manholes to final road levels, and the repair or replacement of damaged service covers, catchpits, and grid covers.
Crews will also reinstate damaged kerbs and inlets, clean stormwater infrastructure, and carry out localised repairs to concrete, cobbled, and block-paved roads.
Residents are encouraged to plan for possible delays and temporary disruptions, while the City assures the community that the improvements will result in safer, smoother roads across these neighbourhoods.
Roads affected by the project include Bordeaux Avenue, Solomons Road, St Denis Avenue, Friars Road, Clifford Road, Lilson Road, Northumbria Road, Upper Deane Road, Firmount Road, Upper Rhine Road, Ilkley Crescent, Hall Road, Norfolk Road, Alexander Road, Beach Road, Albany Road, Ocean View Drive, St Jeans Avenue, Alexandra Avenue, Le Croix Avenue, Monastery Road, Disandt Avenue, Ave Protea Avenue, Rochester Road, Arcadia Close, The Ridge Road, Maidens Cove, 1st Crescent, Hove Road, Ingleside Road, Medburn Road, Sedgemoor Road, Strathmore Road, The Cheviots Road, The Fairway, Theresa Avenue, Beta Road and Fiskaal Road.
