This past weekend, volunteers from the Shincheonji church in partnership with Streetscapes and councillors took to Darling Street and other areas in Cape Town to conduct clean-ups in celebration of Mandela Day.
The Shincheonji volunteers also distributed items such as blankets, clothes, and non-perishables to those that were affected by the recent severe storms in Khayelitsha, Philippi, Gugulethu, Mfuleni, Masiphumelele, Macassar, Delft, and Strand.
Clean-ups were conducted simultaneously in Kraaifontein, Ida’s Valley, and Klapmuts
Shincheonji pastor Ntomboxolo Qhora called on the public to continue to donate to the communities affected by the storm, as the needs remain high.
Shincheonji volunteer coordinator, Nic Ngcobo said they will continue to put in efforts beyond Mandela Day to unite with various communities all over South Africa, bringing about “lasting, positive change and contributing to a better, fairer South Africa”.
