The Eoan Group’s Mo’Jiza Mosaval and his teammates, go through their paces during a studio session, at the Joseph Stone Auditorium, at the weekend.
Dancers representing the Athlone-based Eoan Group’s Ballet School performed well at the South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC), held at Artscape, earlier this month, finishing in the top five position in various categories.
Pictured, from left, are, Alix Mckay, Lakeesha Marcus, Mo’Jiza Mosaval, Lashay Marcus and Luca Oks. Mo’jiza and Alix each won a silver medal for contemporary dance, sisters Lakeesah and Lashay Marcus a silver medal for their duet. Luca and Mo’jiza were also ballet finalists and, along with Alix, finished in the top six in the contemporary dance section.
Considered the largest ballet competition on the continent and recognised as Africa’s finest and most established ballet event of its kind, the SAIBC attracts dancers of the highest calibre from South Africa and across the globe.
This year jury members from China, Canada, South Korea, Switzerland, South Africa, Belgium, and America officiated at the event.
