Khayelitsha Athletics Club is set to host its annual run on Sunday September 1, promising a blend of competitive spirit, community engagement, and charitable giving.
Runners can chase record times on the flat and fast 10km course.
Flat surfaces are ideal race for those preparing for marathons to test their speed but definently a joy for those who excel in shorter distances.
The course provides a competitive environment and scenic run through Khayelitsha, giving participants a chance to experience the energy and culture of the township.
For those who prefer a less competitive pace, the event also features a 5km fun run, designed to cater to families and runners of all ages and skill levels.
In addition to promoting fitness and fun, the club is using the annual run to support those in need.
Participants are encouraged to take donations of food, running shoes and clothes, to be distributed to local charity homes and runners in the community who are in need.
Registration will be available on race day at the Mandela Park Stadium, where both the 10km and 5km runs will start and finish. The 10km race starts at 7am and the 5km at 8am. For details contact club secretary Nandi Mginqi on 073 594 1607.
