A Cape Town restaurant has been recognised as one of the one of the world's 16 most beautiful restaurants.
Amura by Ángel León was named a Prix Versailles "World's Most Beautiful" Achievements laureate, an honour that recognises establishments that contribute to beautifying and improving the living environment.
According to Prix Versailles, the annual awards showcase projects that set a global benchmark for exceptional architecture and design. Presented at UNESCO each year since 2015, the awards celebrate some of the finest contemporary projects from around the world.
Amura, designed by award-winning interior architect Tristan du Plessis, is a cinematic, ocean-inspired room evoking the mystique of Cape Town's kelp forests.
The gloomy greens, warm oak, and bronze elements of Mount Nelson's historic Planet Room and former Cape Colony Restaurant create a serene, transportive environment.
The restaurant's open kitchen showcases Chef Ángel León's innovative marine cuisine, which combines local ingredients and cutting-edge techniques to create an immersive sensory experience inspired by the sea.
Prix Versailles stated the Official List pays tribute to projects that embody innovation, creativity, local heritage, ecological efficiency and the values of social interaction and participation.
The selection aligns with the principles of intelligent sustainability, considering the ecological, social and cultural impacts of each project.
